UPDATE ON JOHN KEYS SHOLARSHIP

The Board of Directors of the John Keys Scholarship Fund just finished compiling the Finance Report & Donor Listing for February 1, 2007 and we wanted to share with you some important facts and figures.

1. The program year for the Scholarship Fund runs from July 1 through June 30th of the following year. For the 2005-2006 Program Year, we raised a total of $2,981.00. To date, for the 2006-2007 Program Year (with 5 months left), we have raised a total of $1,942.00, or 65% of last year's total.

2. Of the total raised to date for the 2006-2007 Program Year, the American Legion Auxiliary has been the largest contributing group with $725.00 or 37.3% of the total, followed by the Sons with $600.00 or 30.9% of the total. Corporations gave $500 or 25.7% of the total, and Individuals have contributed $117.00 or 6.1% of the total.

3. Since 1995, we have received donations at one time or another, from a total of 37 different donors (either Squadrons, Units, Posts, Districts, Detachment, Corporations, or Individuals). For the 2006-2007 Program Year, we have received donations from a total of 11 different donors (Squadrons, Units, Corporations, and Individuals). Last year, for the 2005-2006 Program Year, we received donations from a total of 19 different donors.

4. For the 2006-2007 Program Year to date, our largest single donations came from the following, in order: Hardin Unit 113 (Auxiliary); the Cinergy/Duke Energy Foundation (Corporate); and Newport Squadron 11 (Sons).

5. Our largest life to date donors (1995 to now) in terms of cumulative donations, in order: Hardin Squadron 113 ($2,850); Detachment of Kentucky ($1,400); Chief Paduke Squadron 31 ($1,375); and Shawnee Squadron 193 ($913.50). We will be issuing a fundraising mailing sometime during the next 2 months, in advance of the Scholarship award(s) to be announced on May 1st. Please encourage all Posts, Squadrons, Units, and members in your area to give generously to this important effort. Your help will make all the difference.
