Thank you of your interest in Kentucky Boys State, a premier leadership and civic course for high school juniors going into their senior year. We encourage students to submit their applications by May 1st due to funding from American Legion Posts, but we have a rolling admission policy up to the start date of the program.
The American Legion Boys State programs are among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students. It is a participatory program where each participant becomes a part of the operation of his local, county and state government. Students get to network with others across the State to include officials, staff, and other guests and alumni. This program is a positive resume entry that can help with grants, scholarships, military scholarships, internships, and other competitive programs and college.
The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors a similar program for young ladies called Girls State. For more information about Girls State review their brochure: http://www.legion-aux.org/uploads/docs/Girls%20State%202006-2007_ON70CH.pdf
